Issues and Trends: Change, Contexts, Consequences, Constants Revisited (Blog)

Post at least three consequences of learning about the international early childhood field for your professional and personal development (any format, any length)

Three consequences of learning about the international early childhood field for me include, connecting with a diverse group of early childhood education professionals, awareness to issues that affect children in various countries in the field of early childhood education and also research for professional growth. I believe these things are important because they made a huge impact on how I view professionals working in my profession and most importantly brought awareness to issues and trends that affect me as a professional and the children.

Post one goal for the field related to international awareness of issues and trends and the spirit of collegial relations

I believe this course allowed me to view early childhood education as a whole, both locally and internationally.  I have decided for my goal on international awareness that I would continue to reach out to international professionals and also I would share any resources provided/given with my colleagues to keep them aware as well.

  1. You are right the awareness that this course has brought about for us as educators will last with me for some time

  2. ShaKeema,

We've all had a positive and enlightening experiences in this course thanks to our researching, and such in our case learning from our colleagues who were successful reaching an international contact. The resources provided by all of us are definitely useful and can serve to different purposes.

Thanks for sharing your resources and further explanation in all your readings.

  4. I agree that the DIVERSITY part of it all is one of the most enlightening! Before now, I have never really thought about reaching out to those across the world--never really saw a REAL connection. But now I am glad to have been given the opportunity to do so. It inspires me to take my work globally (rather than being a closed box--simply inside of the classroom). Being an educator consist of so much more! Please do continue to share any new insights you might gain over the years and I will do the same! :)

  5. Hello Sha’Keema,
Working with you has broadened my horizon to include your perspective, and feelings. It is so important to connect on the human level! Thank you for sharing your personal story that added to the authenticity of the research we conducted in the class. I know we’ll be in touch via blog work but perhaps we’ll embark on a new class together along with our other 6162-3 peers. Until then, best of luck and courage.
    Fondly,
    Marie

  6. Great topic to research because there is so much diversity in our schools and communities and knowing how to relate to families is a must. I like the topic of building relationships with families. It is important to get them involved in their children's learning and development.
